The Story:
Years ago in college, I had a powerful experience of supernatural, burning bush proportions. With it came an undeniable call to pursue music full time, but rather than seeking money or stardom, I was compelled to use music to serve others. With great power comes great responsibility, and there’s nothing more powerful, moving, or universal than music. Having heard the call loud and clear, I set out to pursue this dream, this Vision that was rising in my life. So began a journey that has led me to perform on every stage imaginable, not just in coffee shops, bars, and music halls, but also in homeless shelters, children’s hospitals, senior centers, and numerous other community venues.
As the journey has continued, two convictions have grown strong in me. The first is a desire to give hope and encouragement to those who need it most. Life is HARD, and we need each other to keep moving forward in the midst of its’ challenges. So my first priority has become to encourage people through music to remember that they’re not alone, no matter what their situation, and that there is ALWAYS hope.
The second is a growing discontent for bad music. And I’m not just talking about music that is simplistic, repetitive or musically shallow (* cough* pop music* cough) but also that glorifies destructive, immoral behavior, celebrates ego, greed and selfishness, or degrades women and relationships. A great song with a catchy melody, an infectious hook and a powerful message can literally change the world, and nothing frustrates me more than hearing a well written, well produced song that is once again encouraging people to sleep around or drink themselves into a dangerous stupor.
Thus, my job has become clear: to give people something else to listen to, great music, played extremely well that actually has something to say, music that encourages those who are down, make people think, and remind us all to look up and remember the God who created us. This is the Vision that I’ve been called to, and that YOU are a part of. Join the movement. Share this site or a song with someone today.
